Religion Group Projects

This week students participated in their first group projects on major world religions.  Students researched and presented information on their topics in the form of a fifteen minute PowerPoint-based team lecture.  Students examined the origins, diffusion and basic tenents of Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Confucianism and Animism/Shamanism.  Parents, please take some time this weekend to discuss with your children the results of this assignment.  Overall, the projects were a great success.

Dinner at Madras Chettinaad

Parents and students, please join us for our first class outing at Madras Chettinaad in Alpharetta.  The class will be reviewing material in class this week about Indian culture during the Mauryan and Gupta Empires and I believe this trip will be a great compliment to the content.  The restaurant is located at 4305 State Bridge Road, #108 Alpharetta, GA 30022.  Dinner will begin at 7:00pm and will run until approximately 9:00pm.  The cost is $15.00 per person (please bring exact change).  For further information and directions please visit http://madraschettinaad.com.  I hope to see you all there!

Cross Country

AP World History students have been representing strongly this year on the North Springs Cross Country team.  This weekend students competed in the Clara Bowl at Berry College.  The team had an impressive showing placing 5 runners in the top 20 spots.

Unit 2 Assessment

The Unit 2 Assessment will be on Thursday, September 20th (multiple-choice) and Friday, September 21st (skeletal compare/contrast essay). The test will predominately cover the period 600 B.C.E. to 600 C.E. The chapters that coincide with this in the textbook are (generally) 3 - 7. A small percentage of the multiple-choice section will, however, cover material from Unit 1. All tests throughout the year will contain a similar percentage of cumulative information.

Study sessions for the test will be offered at the following times:

Tuesday, September 18th from 7:00am until 7:45am
Wednesday, September 19th from 7:00am until 7:45am
