Model United Nations
Model UN is a great opportunity to get involved in politics
and debate, and meet interesting and intellectual people from all over Georgia
and the Southeast.
It's not a major commitment, except for the two days of
school missed for each conference (typically we do two a year, each hosted at a
different university.) We also often hold weekly/monthly meetings, where
we learn about debate, research our countries, and hold mock sessions.
Before each conference, we choose a country, and each
student chooses a committee that interests them- could be human rights,
environmental, etc. You research your country's views and attend the
conference, where you debate with other students.
It really is fun, and a great resume addition for anyone who
wants to show off an interest in economics, politics, world issues, and public
speaking.

Thank you so much, Ariana Lewis
